The following is the full text of the message issued on September 16, 2015 by Ayatollah Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, on the demise of Ayatollah Abul-Qasem Khazali (may God bestow paradise on him).

In the Name of Him, the Exalted

I would like to express my condolences - on the occasion of the demise of our knowledgeable, diligent and pious clergyman, the late Ayatollah Hajj Sheikh Abul-Qasem Khazali (God's mercy be upon him) - to his honorable family, his friends and all those who loved him.

The blessed life of this clergyman was full of brilliant points. Spending many years benefitting from the lessons of Imam Khomeini (r.a.) and many other great ulama in Qom and Mashhad, supporting our magnanimous Imam(r.a.) since the first days of the revolutionary movement, defending that great man in a courageous, articulate and eloquent manner during the time of taghuti suppression, being present in the arena of heavy difficulties after the victory of the Islamic Revolution and becoming a member of the Guardian Council and the Assembly of Experts, showing exquisite patience in the face of the martyrdom of his son in Qom and during the revolutionary movements of the people of Iran, memorizing and establishing a close relationship with the Holy Quran and with the infinite sea of hadith, engaging in long-term activities in the area of promoting and explaining Islamic teachings, and showing steadfastness in the original and straight line of the Revolution during all times and until the end of his life were the important chapters in the life of that pious and hard-working clergyman.

By Allah's favor, these actions will be recorded by divine reckoning and God willing, they will be rewarded.

I ask God to bestow His mercy and forgiveness on that great man.

Sayyid Ali Khamenei
