The mosque, named 'Masjidhul Mu'thaqeen', was opened yesterday afternoon by Islamic Minister Dr. Ahmed Ziyadh Bagir. After opening the mosque the minister led the afternoon prayer as Imaam.The mosque can hold a maximum of 700 and has facilities for both men and women to pray in.
The construction of the mosque was carried out my "Profot" Company for MVR 2.4 million. Construction started in September 2012. Even though the mosque was to be opened in 325 days under the agreement, it was opened after nearly three years.
