On Day 2 of the attack, the volunteers embarked on removing all traces of blood on the prayer mats, restored power and equipped the mosque with air conditioners.
About 100 volunteers were involved in the maintenance and restoration work. Ahmad Al-Alawi, one of the volunteers, said the work was done in an unexpectedly short time.
“Volunteers came running to the location right after the announcement of the clean-up operation to remove the debris,” he said. He said the volunteers carried out the cleaning and maintenance work in coordination with Civil Defense personnel.
“More than 500 worshippers packed the mosque for Maghrib prayers on Tuesday,” he said.
