Police later found the loot in the boot of a Mercedes-Benz driven by the suspect. Sentul OCPD Asst Comm R. Munusamy said they uncovered 13 pairs of shoes of various sizes last Saturday.
One of the victims had lodged a report about the theft at the mosque. “When asked, the suspect said the shoes were his but we realised that they did not match his size.
“A man who was at the scene came forward and pointed out his shoes that were taken from the mosque,” he told newsmen yesterday. ACP Munusamy said the shoes were believed stolen within a day at Masjid Wilayah, and investigations revealed that the car belonged to the suspect’s housemate. Police said the man could be a habitual thief.
In another unrelated theft case, three men, aged between 21 and 25, were arrested at a roadblock at about 4am in Jalan Taman Kok Doh here last Friday.
The trio were in a Volkswagen Golf 1.4 that was reported stolen in Taman Tun Dr Ismail here last Nov 21. ACP Munusamy said the car chassis number did not match that of the stolen vehicle.
“In the car, we found a road tax registered under BLG 9510. It belongs to a Volkswagen Golf GTI 2.0 that was reported missing in Subang Jaya,” he added. A key belonging to a BMW car was also recovered from one of the men, who was later found to have records for drug offences.
