Liz, who asked that her surname not be published, sat in her wheelchair outside the burnt-out West St mosque in a quiet showing of solidarity - a Christian supporting the Muslim community. She had brought with her some wood, nails and a hammer.

"I thought of making a sign saying something like 'Mosques are churches too and they are important to people', but then I thought, they don't need words, they need building materials," she said.
"I just wanted to say 'here's some wood, rebuild'. "After all, Jesus was a carpenter. "Hopefully, other people will now help out too (with building materials)." Liz, who only recently found Jesus, said she felt for the mosque community.
"Until recently I had tried to be an atheist but I never really believed it," she smiled. "But everyone has the right to worship in their own way.
"I don't agree with what happened here and I know a lot of people feel the same. "I don't know why it was burnt down; there's nothing to be achieved by it. "If they (arsonists) are Christians then I don't agree with their type of Christianity."
